Auditions!!

Before we get into the details of the audition, we would just like to say that we are so excited you want to join our group! We work hard and have a lot of fun, and we’re thrilled to sing with you.

Like all a cappella groups on campus, Counterpoint’s auditions consist of an initial audition and a callback. The entire audition process will take place during week 1 of fall quarter.

This year, Counterpoint’s initial auditions will take place in person on Monday and Tuesday (9/23-23). First we will ask you to sing scales, match pitch, and perform rhythm exercises. Then you will wow us with a solo performance! This solo is a 1-2 minute selection from a song of your choice, so pick a song that you’re comfortable singing, shows off your voice, and reflects your style. Many auditionees choose to perform a verse and chorus.

If we think you could be a good fit for Counterpoint, we will invite you to a social to get to know the group on Thursday (9/26), followed by a callback on Friday (9/27) to sing us another song. You’ll find out if you’ll be joining Counterpoint on Saturday (9/28).
